Police Leadership and Staff Course Inaugurated
Inspector General of Police Daan Bahadur Karki inaugurated the Police Leadership and Staff Course (PLSC Batch 02) under the Masters of Police Sciences program at the National Police Training Academy, emphasizing leadership, modernization, and professional transformation within Nepal Police.
A formal inauguration ceremony of the Police Leadership and Staff Course (PLSC Batch 02), incorporated under the Masters of Police Sciences (MPS) program, was held on Monday at the National Police Training Academy in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. The program was inaugurated in the distinguished presence of Dan Bahadur Karki, Inspector General of Police (IGP), who attended the event as the chief guest.
The ceremony officially commenced with IGP Karki lighting the traditional ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the beginning of the advanced leadership and academic training program designed for senior police officers.
Addressing the gathering, IGP Karki expressed confidence that the Police Leadership and Staff Course, integrated with the Masters of Police Sciences (MPS) curriculum, would become a milestone in the institutional development, modernization, and professional transformation of the Nepal Police organization. He highlighted the growing complexity of contemporary security challenges and emphasized the importance of producing capable, visionary, and professionally competent police leaders who can effectively address evolving societal and security concerns.

He further stated that the course would play a vital role in preparing strategic leaders equipped with modern policing knowledge, leadership skills, and management capabilities necessary for maintaining law and order in a rapidly changing environment. Encouraging the participants to fully dedicate themselves to the program, he urged the trainees to complete the course with discipline, commitment, and professionalism.
During the program, Shiddhi Bikram Shah, Executive Director of the National Police Training Academy, delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the collaborative efforts made to strengthen higher education and leadership development within Nepal Police.
Similarly, Mahananda Chalise, Dean of the Faculty of Management at Tribhuvan University, delivered a congratulatory speech and extended his best wishes for the successful completion of the course. He emphasized the significance of academic excellence and research-oriented policing in the modern era.

The event also featured a welcome address and brief presentation about the Police Leadership and Staff Course by Dinesh Kumar Acharya, who outlined the objectives, structure, and expected outcomes of the training program.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including Additional Inspector Generals, advisors associated with the Masters of Police Sciences program, and distinguished guests. Among them was Rajiv Bikram Rana, along with several high-ranking officers and academicians, reflecting the importance of leadership development and professional education within Nepal Police.
The Police Leadership and Staff Course is expected to enhance strategic leadership capacity, promote institutional excellence, and contribute significantly toward building a modern, professional, and service-oriented policing system in Nepal.
