High-Level Meeting of the Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee Concluded

A high-level meeting of the Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee was held on Monday at Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, under the chief guestship of Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal.

Addressing the program, Finance Minister Khanal emphasized that all concerned agencies must work in coordination and collaboration in an integrated manner to make revenue leakage control more effective. Referring to the decisions made in previous meetings, he noted that they are being actively implemented and stressed the need to further strengthen and effectively execute systemic reforms aimed at controlling revenue leakage.

He highlighted that Nepal Police has been playing an active role in controlling revenue leakage in accordance with its institutional capacity. He further mentioned that long-term and effective results could be achieved if strategic support is provided in areas such as technology, human resources, legal strengthening, and inter-agency coordination.

During the program, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bishwo Adhikari delivered a presentation on the role of Nepal Police in controlling revenue leakage and smuggling. Similarly, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Uttar Kumar Khatri, presented on various issues related to revenue mobilization and leakage.

The meeting also included virtual discussions and interactions with the chiefs of all seven Provincial Police Offices, as well as the heads of District Police Offices in Morang, Bara, Chitwan, Banke, and Kailali, regarding ongoing efforts to control revenue leakage and smuggling.

Additionally, updates were received on the ground situation at border checkpoints through CCTV surveillance systems installed at those locations.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Home Secretary, the Finance Secretary, the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, the Director Generals of the Department of Customs, the Inland Revenue Department, the Revenue Investigation Department, and the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, along with Deputy Inspectors General of Police and other senior officials.
