Praising the work being undertaken by the Election Cell, the Home Minister directed officials to intensify efforts to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted in a peaceful, fair, and fear-free environment. He also instructed security agencies to enhance coordination with other relevant bodies to effectively address potential challenges during the election period.
The inspection program was attended by senior security officials, including Nepal Army Lieutenant General Pradip Jung KC, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, and the Chief Investigation Director of the National Investigation Department, among others.
Technology-Driven Election Security
Targeting the House of Representatives Election, 2082, Nepal Police has introduced the Election Management Information System (EMIS) to make election security and management more systematic, swift, and technology-friendly.

Through EMIS, the deployment and visualization of Nepal Police personnel assigned for election duties at the provincial, district, and local levels can be monitored. The system also facilitates the rapid execution of election-related activities through an Online Computerized Election Management System and enables the preparation of necessary reports.
Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abhi Narayan Kafle stated that Nepal Police has been maximizing the use of modern technology to strengthen election security and management.
He said that under the technology-friendly security framework, the EMIS system allows the Command Center at Police Headquarters to monitor security arrangements at all polling stations nationwide and issue necessary directives as required. According to him, this has significantly enhanced polling station security during elections.
CCTV and AI Surveillance
A total of 786 CCTV cameras equipped with AI features have been installed nationwide to monitor election-related security activities directly from the Command Center. Of these, 22 cameras have been placed at seven border entry points, 700 at major checkpoints and intersections within Kathmandu, and 64 in Biratnagar and Birgunj outside the Kathmandu Valley.
The AI-enabled CCTV cameras feature face recognition, automatic number plate recognition, behavior analysis, and other smart AI capabilities. DIG Kafle emphasized that priority has been given to technology-driven security planning, strengthening information-gathering systems, and rapid response preparedness for emergencies. Security strategies have been formulated to ensure continuous monitoring of polling stations through the Command Center.
Additionally, Nepal Police has distributed radio sets equipped with real-time video surveillance cameras to sensitive polling stations. All polling stations have been ensured effective communication systems. Drones will also be deployed, as needed, to monitor security arrangements around polling centers directly from the Command Center.
Action Against Misinformation
The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics Cell (AI-AAC), based at Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal, has been playing an active role in bringing individuals spreading misinformation and disinformation on social media under legal action.
Through coordinated efforts of cyber police units mobilized under the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, provincial police offices, and district police offices, action is being taken against those disseminating false or misleading information related to the elections.
